Which blender is the winner?
I’ve looked at everything from power to performance, and features to ease of use. In the battle of Nutribullet vs Ninja vs Vitamix, the Vitamix takes the lead.
BUT, there is a caveat! The Vitamix had superior performance in our tests and is my recommendation for someone wanting a blender for a range of uses. However, if you’re just looking for a blender for your daily smoothie – go for the Nutribullet.

PERFORMANCE REVIEWS
Smoothies
The test: I tested each of these high-performance blenders with the same quantities of spinach, frozen berries, frozen banana and plant milk for a 30 second blend.
The Vitamix absolutely nailed it – ultra-smooth, no crunchy berry seeds and it obliterated greens, although the tamper was needed.
The Ninja didn’t do a great job; after 30 seconds there were still lots of crunchy seeds and chewy spinach pieces. It faired better with a longer blend though and produced a smooth smoothie.
The Nutribullet did a good job to blending the smoothie, though not quite on Vitamix-level because a few crunchy seeds remained.
Ice Cream
The test: I tested each of the high speed blenders using fully frozen banana chunks to make banana ‘nice cream’.
The Vitamix smashed this task and processed the bananas into smooth, spoonable ice cream with very little effort, bar the use of the tamper.
The Ninja didn’t seem to understand the assignment. It broke the bananas down into crushed little pieces and then decided it wasn’t going to do anything more. Even a few setting changes and a splash of plant milk didn’t help!
The Nutribullet gave it a go… but failed miserably. Most of the banana chunks remained whole and adding a splash of milk just resulted in grainy chunks of banana floating in liquid. So no, don’t attempt to make ice cream in the Nutribullet!
Crushing Ice
The test: I tested each blender with 2 cups of ice cubes.
The high quality Vitamix turned the ice into fine ‘snow’ in just a few seconds.
The Ninja also performed well and made light work of crushing the ice. The result wasn’t as fine as the Vitamix but looked perfect for cocktails.
The Nutribullet barely made a dent in the ice cubes, so that was a fail.
Nut Butter
The test: I used 2 cups of whole almonds and gave each blender 10 minutes to do it’s thing (assisted by tampers and scrape downs as needed).
The Vitamix and its powerful motor did the best job of making almond butter, but it wasn’t easy and the result wasn’t as smooth as you’d get in the shops. It got the job done but needed the use of the tamper and regular scrape downs.
The Ninja tried hard, but didn’t make nut butter in the 10 minute timeframe, despite frequent scrape downs. I’m not sure it would have managed even with more time.
The Nutribullet was not a fan of the nut butter test. It was starting to overheat within a couple of minutes, so in the interests of not starting a kitchen fire, I stopped the test early.
The Nutribullet does make excellent nut cheese (aka ground nuts) for me on a regular basis though (like this 2 minute vegan parmesan which is a permanent feature in my fridge)
Ease of Cleaning
The Ninja was top in our ‘ease of cleaning’ test. It has a removable blade and a wide container, which makes it a breeze to clean and easy to scoop out any leftover ingredients.
The Nutribullet is pretty easy to clean. The cup in particular is very easy, and whilst the blade is a bit trickier, it only takes a few seconds with a brush and hot water to get it clean. The hardest bit to clean is the base because you can’t submerge it in water and it does get a bit mucky when the cup leaks, which tends to happen if you overfill the cup!
The Vitamix has a clean function whereby you add soap and water and blend until it’s clean, but the main issue is getting thick ingredients out from around the blade at the bottom of the jar, because the blade is not removable.
Ease of Use
Nutribullet 600 Series
It’s about as simple as it can be! Put the lid on, place the cup upside down on the base and twist to blend. Easy, fast and convenient.
Ninja BN750/751
The Ninja comes with 3 Auto-iQ programmes, making it very user friendly.
Vitamix 5200
The Vitamix has a straightforward 1-10 dial which is intuitive, as well as a variable/high burst switch and an on/off switch. You do need to use the tamper for thick or frozen blends.
CONCLUSION: WHICH IS BETTER – NUTRIBULLET VS NINJA VS VITAMIX?
So, which is best in 2025 when comparing the Nutribullet vs Ninja vs Vitamix? It really depends on how you plan to use it:
- Choose the Vitamix if you want power, versatility, longevity and premium performance – and you’re happy to invest more money. The Vitamix is ideal for a variety of blending tasks; soups, smoothies, frozen fruit ice cream, big batches and more. It is one of the top performing full-size blenders on the market.
- Pick the Nutribullet if you blend mostly single-serve smoothies, want something compact and fast, and don’t need heavy-duty performance or a large capacity blender. It is one of the best personal blenders out there.
- Pick the Ninja if you’re looking for a full-sized blender with a larger capacity than the Nutribullet, but on a smaller budget than is needed with the Vitamix.
The Nutribullet and Ninja blenders offer fantastic value and are a good choice – but the Vitamix, while a bigger investment, might be worth it if you’re looking for longevity and versatility.
My long term experience: I’ve had three Nutribullet blenders now, each lasting around 2.5 years but I use it daily. My Vitamix on the other hand is over 10 years old and still going strong, but is used an average of once a week for larger batch blending or tougher tasks. As an avid cook and kitchen user, I wouldn’t like to be without either of them! The Ninja wasn’t for me as the performance didn’t come close to the Vitamix and it wasn’t as convenient as the Nutribullet.

Warranty and longevity
Vitamix is known for durability and the company offers a 7 year warranty on most purchases*. That longevity can help to justify the cost.
Noise levels
All three are powerful, but the Vitamix tends to be louder; something to consider if you have a close neighbours or a sleeping baby in the house.
Running costs
Replacement parts for Vitamix are more expensive, but you might replace the Nutribullet base more often.
Space and storage
The Nutribullet is very compact, whereas the Vitamix and Ninja take up quite a bit of room in the cupboard or on the worktop.

Are nutribullets or Ninjas better?
It depends on what you need. Nutribullets are great for quick, single-serve smoothies and light daily use. Ninja offers more power and larger jugs, therefore it’s a better choice if you want to blend bigger batches but don’t have the budget for a Vitamix.
Which blender is best in the UK?
For overall performance and durability, the Vitamix came out top as the best blender in the UK in our tests between the Nutribullet, Ninja and Vitamix. If you’re looking for something more affordable, the Ninja gives a better balance of power and price.
Is Vitamix better than Ninja?
Yes – in most of our performance tests, the Vitamix gave a smoother blend and handled tougher ingredients more easily. However, the Ninja is good value for everyday home use on a smaller budget.
What is the difference between Nutribullet and Vitamix?
The Vitamix is a full-size, high powered beast of a blender, designed for heavy duty jobs like big batch soups, nut butters and frozen desserts.

Is a Vitamix blender really 3x better than a Ninja?
It’s hard to quantify! But the Vitamix does deliver noticeably smoother blends and better performance with tough ingredients. Whether that’s worth the higher price depends on how often you blend and what you make.
How much better is Vitamix compared to Nutribullet?
It’s a totally different blender! Vitamix is significantly more powerful and versatile. If you just want a single-serve blender to make a daily smoothie, the Nutribullet is great at that. But if you want to blend large batches of soup or tough ingredients, there is no contest; the Vitamix wins every time.
Best blender for crushing ice (UK)?
The Vitamix and the Ninja both did an excellent job of crushing ice in our tests.
