How Do You Make An Iced Vanilla Matcha Latte?

It’s quick and easy to make a vanilla iced matcha latte! Here’s what you’ll need to make your own matcha latte at home:

  1. Matcha powder (pick a high-quality matcha powder)
  2. Oat milk (ideally barista-style)
  3. Ice
  4. Maple syrup
  5. Vanilla extract
  6. A matcha whisk
  7. A tall glass perfect for your iced oatmilk matcha latte (we like these bubble Iced Matcha Glasses)!

OAT MILK TIP: Ideally pick a barista-style oat milk if it’s available in your local store. Barista oat milks tend to be creamier and more stable when exposed to temperature extremes (such as ice cold).

OTHER NON-DAIRY MILKS: You can switch out the oat milk for another non-dairy milk of choice. We like oat milk as it has a neutral flavour and tends to be naturally sweet but you can try another type of milk.  Soy milk is another good option for a creamy texture, as are coconut milk and cashew milk.

VANILLA & SYRUP:  If you have vanilla bean infused syrup to hand, feel free to exchange the maple syrup and vanilla extract for vanilla syrup instead.

Step-by-Step: How to make Iced Matcha with Oat Milk

It’s super simple to make this creamy dairy free iced matcha latte to enjoy on hot summer days.

Here’s an overview of how to make this creamy vanilla matcha latte recipe at home (click here to get the full recipe with measurements):

1. Add 1 tsp matcha powder to a measuring jug or small bowl.

2. Stir in 1-2 tablespoons of hot water using a matcha whisk, until smooth. Stir in the remaining hot water.

Note: Use a matcha bamboo whisk for best results and a smoother matcha. Alternatively, if you don’t have one, you can use a small whisk to give the mixture a vigorous whisk, however, it will likely be less effective at blending the fine powder with the water.

3. Stir in the cold water, maple syrup and vanilla extract.

4. Fill a glass to the top with ice (we like these Iced Matcha Glasses). Pour the matcha mixture into the glass of ice.

5. Top up with the oat milk and stir to combine.

That’s it! A creamy and refreshing vegan iced matcha latte, ready in under 3 minutes!

* Barista-style oat milk is recommended for this recipe because it usually includes stabilisers which prevent splitting or curdling, providing a smooth finish to the matcha latte.
